I'm not a therapist who just asks about the feelings in your body without addressing the real problem.  We work together to figure things out, solve them, and move you forward.

You might be out of a breakup and not sure why it ended. Maybe you've been angry at yourself, or your partner, for how things went.

Or you're in a lifestage switch and wondering "what's next" or "is this all there is?" You've tried to work on yourself before, maybe even gone to therapy, but it didn't really connect.

How Therapy With Me Works

Real therapy is about understanding our patterns, why things stay stuck or keep repeating, and then doing the work to change them.

In our sessions, we'll look at what's happening beneath the surface - your thoughts, emotions, and the structures of your beliefs that create the patterns you keep finding yourself in. I'll challenge you when it matters, but we'll also slow down to see what drives your reactions and decisions.

My approach is backed by research on real-world results. I incorporate:

  • Helps identify and change unhelpful thought patterns; builds confidence and competence through challenging the cognitive distortions and assumptions that hold you back.

  • Encourages reflection on meaning and values, supports clarity through a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.

  • Explores long-standing patterns that repeat in life and relationships; connects insight to action so you can finally break cycles that hold you back.

My process isn't abstract, it's practical, insight provoking, and grounded in research.

About Me

Hi, I'm Erik Anderson, LMFT.

I utilize the research on what works to help people get where they want to go. I'm here to help you understand how your mind works and what to do with that information. Together, we'll work toward clarity, direction, and better results in your life.

Before becoming a therapist, I studied modern literature, tutored math and science, and earned a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Outside of therapy, I've been an active member of the Rationality community since 2018, working to apply reason, logic, and accurate maps of the world to life's personal challenges.

If you've had therapy before and it didn't stick, this is a different kind of work. If you're ready to figure things out and get unstuck, I'd be glad to help.
